Meet Ana San Roman
Candidate for Homestead City Council – Seat 2
Born in Havana, Cuba, I immigrated to the United States at the age of nine with my parents. My father passed away just 20 days after his arrival from Cuba. My mother and I moved to Miami Beach where I grew up. After graduating from Miami Beach Senior High School, I studied at Miami Dade Community College and later graduated from Florida International University Cum Laude. I earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in public administration. I later attended Nova law school for one year. I am married, have four children and six grandchildren.
I began my professional career working in the administrative field for the private sector. This profession allowed me to acquire experience and learn from the inside out. This knowledge is one that can never be taught in school. My husband who has worked for FPL at Turkey Point for 25 years, and I moved to Homestead in 2001. Shortly thereafter, I began my tenure with the City of Homestead. I worked as the Executive Assistant to the City Manager's Office for 16 years before being promoted to Economic Development Manager in 2018. I retired in 2022.
I am inspired to run in the upcoming elections seeing the changes in Homestead and its future trajectory. With experience from seven different administrations, I have a deep understanding of Homestead’s strengths and areas that need improvement. I want to protect our community’s quality of life and ensure that you are served with dignity and respect. We all have similar hopes for our city, and while we cannot stop growth or demand, we can make it sustainable and balanced. My goal is to lead with an open mind and be receptive to innovative solutions. Comfort, safety, and the pursuit of a safe family environment are my top priorities and my commitment to you.
